TRANSCRIPTION OF COLOR
About
A new ballet “Transcription of Color” inspired by the analysis of an abstract painting by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy “Construction A II”.
Thinking the music as a canvas and the choreography as the movements of paint- brushes in different colors.
Using Construction A II by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy as a starting point to write a timeline for the choreography, translating its colors to movement. The timeline of colour exits and en- trances interlaces in the dramatic movement in the music, like a dialogue. This dialogue is the starting point for the dramaturgy of the ballet.
The music John Adams’ Harmonielehre is a composition full of post-minimalist rhythms, glitter, and energy. It’s a composition in three movements, based on surreal dreams.
