Anton Pimonov

Choreographer

Anton Pimonov was born in Volgograd. In 1999 he graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet (prof. Yu.I. Umrikhin) and immediately was accepted to the Mariinsky Theater company. Anton took part in performances of Balanchine, Ratmansky, Neumeier, Forsythe, Preljocai, Miroshnichenko, Simonov.

In 2013 as part of a Mariinksy Theater project “A Creative Workshop of Young Choreographers” Anton Pimonov presented a one-act ballet Choreographic Game 3×3 with music of Johann Peter Pixis, which became part of the Theater’s repertoire.

In April 2014 ballet Inside the Lines by Anton Pimonov premiered in the Mariinsky Theater with Maurice Ravel’s music (Piano Concerto in G major).

In July 2016 in commemoration of the 125-year anniversary of Prokofiev Anton Pimonov choreographed Violin Concert No. 2starring Victoria Tereshkina, prima-ballerina of the Mariinsky Theater.

In the Saint-Petersburg State Academic Yacobson Ballet Theater Anton Pimonov choreographed Romeo and Juliet, IberiaIn the Rhythm of Dreams. All three performances were nominated for the Theater Prize Golden Soffit.

In the second season of the TV Kultura program “Bolshoi Ballet” Anton Pimonov choreographed a short ballet performance for principal dancers of the Mariinsky Theater E. Latypov and N. Batoeva.

Since 2015 Anton Pimonov collaborates with the Perm State Choreographic College as choreographer of performances and one-act ballets for graduation presentation and ballet dancers competition “Arabesque”.

In 2016 Anton Pimonov was member of the musical theater jury of the Russian National Theater Award the Golden Mask.
